In the beginning...

Mobi Solutions was founded in October 2000 by five IT and business students of Tartu University in Estonia. Supported by Ericsson and mobile operator EMT, the startup became the first company in Estonia to try mobile advertising. Designed as a game, a voice-based m-advertising service drew over 900 participants. The success of the the project encouraged the team to consider a serious career in mobile services, while our focus shifted from voice-based services to the hottest new technology on the market -  SMS.

In June 2001, Linnar Viik, former advisor to the Prime Minister and initiator of numerous innovative Estonian e-government projects, joined the Mobi team to strengthen company's product development. At that time, Mobi introduced the award-winning SMS-based mobile event services, which were prominently featured on numerous events, ranging from top business conferences to an Elton John concert on Tallinn Song Arena in July 2001.

SMS-event services brought Mobi the title of the "most innovative business idea of the year" by Äripäev, the leading business newspaper in Estonia. In 2002, the company hired the first employees outside of the founders and started offering SMS-gateway, mobile marketing and m-payments services, most of which are still in our portfolio.

Today...

Mobi Solutions has evolved into the leading mobile services provider in the region, employing 30+ people in 3 countries. Our core focus areas are:

Expanding the reach of our services to neighboring countries, we have established daughter companies Mobi Solutions SIA and Mobi Solutions UAB in Latvia and Lithuania.

Fortumo, another daughter company of Mobi Solutions, established in 2007, is providing easy SMS-connectivity to SMEs in more than 14 countries in Europe and Asia, showing a rapid growth.

We have also invested in Chilldor Inc, a startup in Toronto, Canada, providing m-marketing and m-banking services.
